The horse welfare assessment conducted by the Kenyan Society for the Protection
and Care of Animals (KSPCA) with support of Brooke East Africa (BEA), examined the
current state of horse welfare in the Greater Nairobi Area. This report presents
information on the numbers of horses, where they are, how they are used and their
welfare situations, aiming to identify the critical welfare challenges and possible
responses, while placed in the social, economic and cultural context of horse keeping
in Kenya.
